First of all a BIG thank you to all of the many people who wrote to offer their support and asked that we continue to post any Genesis Information we are able to forward to Paperlate.......cheers!
We spoke to Genesis management today and I am pleased to be able to give
you all an update regarding the band's plans for the latest chapter in La Saga
de Genesis!...
(i)
The process of auditioning and recruiting has already begun but will continue apace once Mike finishes his tour with the Mechanics in a couple
of weeks time. And all those who are having Unquiet Slumbers in your beddy-byes at present let me reassure you that there is absolutely no need to worry about the new members of the band.....trust Mike and Tony's invariably immaculate taste OK!
(ii)
Genesis will commence the recording of their new album during the Summer.
And yes the material *will* be darker and heavier and herald a return to the
Genesis melodrama of yesterdyear. Please don't expect derivative material a la
post Roger Waters Pink Floyd (no disrespect intended Floyd fans!) but *do* expect
some astonishing music which as one important member of Genesis' management put
it recently has "blown me away!" To produce Wind and Wuthering Part 2 would be contrary
to Tony's oft stated observation that once a band pander to their audience by performing
the sort of materal the musicians think their audience wants to hear it becomes
transparent and lacks sincerity.
(iii)
The intention at present is to release the new album to us in the Spring of
1997...
(iv)
Genesis will tour Arena sized venues around the world during the Summer
of 1997...and US fans, for Arenas read venues the size of Madison Square Gardens,
NYC or my personal US fav Rosemont Horizon, Chicago (see you there!!!)...
One of the people we spoke to today within the Genesis organisation stated that
they believed Mike and Tony were being "very brave" in continuing Genesis...
....what was that old Gabriel quote to the effect that the Chinese have the same
word for risk as opportunity?!!!
So I urge all of you to ignore the snide rumours and dirty lies.......be in
no doubt that the World's Ultimate Rock Band Are Back.............get ready
for the ride of your lives.......Yipppppeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
