SIMON COLLINS - Phil's son, has his own album out soon. "All of Who You Are" contains the already released single "Pride", which was really a smooth and delicate tune. Simon has a good voice, but it was his ear for good melody that really grabbed my interest on this tune. More info to follow.

THE SUPERNATURAL ANAESTHETISTS - an LA based tribute band, will be playing a more than one hour set of early Genesis on Sunday night, October 3rd, at the Roxy Theater in Hollywood. For old times sake, this is the first venue that Genesis played here on the west coast, back in 1973.

THE WAITING ROOM - Alan Hewitt's fabulous fanzine, has again found itself a digital home, closely associated with The Path. Last issue of the magazine is now available - together with information on Alan's forthcoming chronicle on Genesis, called "Opening The Musical Box". [ twr online ]

GENESIS HITS - scheduled for an October release. Track list: Carpet Crawlers (new version), IKWIL, Follow You Follow Me, Misunderstanding, Turn it on Again, Abacab, Mama, That's All, Invisible Touch, In Too Deep, Throwing it all Away, Land of Confusion, Tonight x 3, No Son of Mine, I Can't Dance, Congo.

Little things that really matter
Dale Newman is back with a new album, humbly called "Little Things That Matter". I've heard the album, and it was really interesting to hear Dale's new approach. This time several songs are a lot more lyrical, or pastoral if you like. A review will soon follow on The Path. Until then, check out Newman's revamped website - now called

Collins celebrating his hero!
HUDSON MUSIC: A Salute To Buddy Rich, featuring Phil Collins with Dennis Chambers and Steve Smith, features, internationally acclaimed drummer and solo artist Phil Collins performing eight compositions with The Buddy Rich Band. Selections include Collins' hits "Sussudio" and "I Don't Care Anymore" plus tunes from Buddy's original repertoire. Other performers on this incredible concert video include drummer's drummers Dennis Chambers and Steve Smith, percussionist Luis Conte and bassist Will Lee. Dennis and Steve each perform two songs with the Rich band. Also included is fascinating rehearsal footage and amazing interviews, plus five rare clips of the great Buddy Rich himself. Check out The Path later for a review of the video.

Do we need mp3?
In a rapid expanding digital world we're experiencing new formats and standards every day. Currently there is a big discussion on the huge distribution of music through the mp3 files, and record companies feel threatened by this new Internet format. The Path will not be an important contributor to that discussion, but sees no reason in distributing music officially available in music stores. Anyway, I hereby test my mp3 capabilities by publishing a copy of Phil Collins' drum solo from the Rome show on April 18, 1972.
DOES IT WORK?

Collins' Walk of Fame
A couple of weeks ago Phil Collins was awarded with a star at Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Not many drummers have experienced this, and it was a very removed Phil who met the press during the session. Check out the video snippet below. And - there will soon be a report from Armando Gallo's meeting with Phil last week. BTW - there is an interesting article on Phil in the last issue of USA Weekend Online. Check it out!

Another masterpiece from
Galleria Testabianca

After presenting the Nursery Cryme watch last year, Paul Whitehead now gives you the opportunity to have a red-dressed fox on your arm. His excellent artwork has been fitted into these small watches, and is a real treasure for all fans. Check out this item - and a lot of Paul's other work - at Galleria Testabianca, located on

Phil's hot night in Paris
Finally, after seeing Phil Collins with his big band in Paris last July, the recorded evidence is here. Ten outstanding pieces from last year's tour are now available in Europe – and the CD is scheduled for a July release in the States. The Path presents a review of the live album, written by a big band drummer. Enjoy!
PHIL's BIG BANG

Bob knew what he liked
The picture on the left was taken by Armando Gallo on Jamaica in May 1980. Bob Marley was a friend of Gallo – and reports say that he really enjoyed reading the best book ever published on Genesis. Why shouldn't he! Last year's re-issue of this legendary book is still available, and I have received a lot of personal reviews indicating that readers agree with Bob. What about you? Why not take a few minutes to read about this treasure. Those of you who have been reluctant about ordering IKWIL due to reports on delays and slow shipment can calm down. The new ordering procedure is now quicker and safer than it was before.
I READ WHAT I LIKE

www.genesis-path.com
Hello dear Visitor! The Path is not dead. Not at all. I am sorry for the lack of visible updates the last couples of months, but the silence has a few invisible reasons. First of all, The Path will soon be re-located to a more proper domain – the one in the heading. Anyway, before launching the new Path I have found it necessary to do some major structuring and design operations – and these tasks are currently in work. I promise that you'll enjoy the new Path, and I will keep you updated when things materialize. 'Till then, I have a few updates:

• Phil Collins' new 'A Hot Night in Paris'.
• Reviews on Frederic Delage's book on Genesis.
• An updated Complete Guide to Genesis radio shows – by David Dunnington.
• The new Genesis paper sleeve editions CD's are available from Camino Records.
• Read about Cut's new album at www.raywilson.co.uk.
• Steve Hackett's 'Darktown' released on April 26.
• Check out news on Phil's music for 'Tarzan' on www.disney.com.

Thanks, The Musical Box!
November 14 was a big highlight in my career as a Genesis fan. My first tour in North America was a big triumph - for both the beautiful tribute band The Musical Box and for all the 3600 fans showing up at the University Sports Centre in Montreal, Canada, on Saturday. Due to a recent disc crash my complete review is postponed for another while, but there are several evidences from the tour here on The Path. Last addition is David Myers' "open letter".
THE TRIP

Radio Show update:
David Dunnington has updated his breathtaking list of Genesis appearances on radio through the years. This is an important document for those wanting to get important insights in the band's history.

Phil Collins in Down Beat:
Phil Collins talks about his big band experiences in this very interesting interview in the October issue of the jazz mag Down Beat. "I'm trying to bring jazz to a bigger audience," says Collins. A live album next Spring?

Paul Whitehead in conversation
with The Waiting Room & The Path

In Montreal, Alan Hewitt and myself met Paul Whitehead - and had a very nice conversation with him about "the old days" over a couple of beers in an old Montrealian cafe. Paul talks about the way he got involved with Genesis and how his artwork was developed. Next Genesis album, Paul..?
WILL HE?

Paul Whitehead on the net!
Paul Whitehead - the cover artist behind 'Trespass', 'Nursery Cryme' and 'Foxtrot' - has now got his own website. 'Galleria Testabianca' tells you more about the artist, his works - and gives you an opportunity to order some of Paul's paintings. In Montreal I was able to see 'Nursery' and 'Foxtrot' reprinted on canvas - and they were beautiful!

Genesis chats on Virgin Net
November 27 Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Steve Hackett had an online chat with their fans on Virgin Net. Nothing dramatical was revealed, but it was a happy and joking conversation. Several fans were online - and some interesting topics were discussed. Unfortunately, Anthony Phillips was stucked in a Hollywood traffic jam and wasn't able to join the chat. The transcript is found on Hackett's official site.
THE TRANSCRIPT

'Genesis - la Boite a Musique'
A new chapter in the book of Genesis is written - this time in French by Frederic Delage. A brand new book - including info on the 'Archive 1967-75' - was released this autumn, with over 250 pages devoted to the thirty years of production by Genesis. The book is based on up-to-date interviews and events, including an extensive discography of past and present members. Check out the author's letter to The Path, including information on how to order the book. A review is coming up soon.

Phil hits out
Phil Collins released his first compilation of original hits this week - including a cover version of Cindy Lauper's 'True Colors'. I've written down some of my thoughts on Phil's work the last couple of years - and maybe I haven't been able to avoid his trip "down the memory lane..."
